Arthroplasty Fellowship 2016

The Hip and Knee Sections of the APOA hereby invite applications for the APOA Arthroplasty Fellowship which will run from 20th March to 8th April 2016. This Fellowship will also include attendance at the 19TH ASIA PACIFIC ORTHOPAEDIC ASSOCIATION CONGRESS in Melbourne, Australia from 29 th March–1st April 2016.

The Fellowship will start from21stMarch with the candidates meeting in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaidewith visits to high volume Australian surgeons until 24th March.They will be divided in small groups or individually to attend surgery / clinics in hospitals in the region (Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide). The candidates will return to Melbourne on 29th March to attend the 19th APOA Congress.(www.apoaonline.com/apoa-conference-2016.php)

The fellows will than travel to Adelaide on 1st April to attend the 9th Clare Valley Bone Meeting fron 2nd to 4th April with visits to the Royal Adelaide Hospital on 5th April. On 6th April, Grand round at Royal Adelaide Hospital with 2 fellows giving a presentation followed by visit to the Adelaide Hospitals and Research Facilities (Cell Biology Labs at University of Adelaide & Engineering Labs at Flinders University). On 7th April fellows will have a tour of Adelaide, meet the locals, native animals at Cleland Park, lunch at the beach followed by meeting of the Adelaide Bone Group where 3 fellows will give a presentation.It ends with a farewell dinner.Fellows will return back to their home countries on 8th April.

Only applicants who have been members of the APOA for at least one year or are life members, and are members of either the Hip or Knee Sections of the APOA will be accepted to be a candidate for the Fellowship. Applicants must also provide a personal statement and letter of good standing from their relevant national medical association along with 2 referees whose email addresses must be attached to their registration form. Alongside this Applicants must also prove their active postings on Facebook and must be active in the Arthroplasty field either as junior consultants or senior trainees. Candidates are required to update the Fellowship Facebook page with their postings of experiences during the Fellowship.

The APOA will fund economy airfare travel to and from Melbourne and to the fellowship destinations. The APOA shall also fund accommodation during the Fellowship.. However, no daily stipend will be provided during the Fellowship.
